wordpress dot com – out of beta
the good news is here – wordpress is beta no more.
blogger and livejournal – the bastions of free blogging platforms – will bleed torrents of blogs to her. in the words of command-tab:
WordPress.com is a free Blogger style site where you can create an account and instantly run a blog powered by (you guessed it) the WordPress publishing system.
Matthew Mullenweg has announced that wordpress.com blogs are:
1. hosted
2. free
3. extensible
the interface bears signs of version 2.0.
Echo Binary has more details. if you want my take on this, i say your free blogging days at blogspot and livejournal are over. there are simply much more (and richer) features to be found at wordpress.com (although i think blogsome offers a pretty good platform too) you’ll be able to experience wordpress publishing without the headaches (of webhosting) and decide if you want to get your own domain name and webhost later.
